Russell Warren

Russell M. Warren, 87, of Olney, passed away on June 25, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. He was born on July 8, 1931 in Alma, IL, the son of Theodore Warren and Mildred (Raley).

Russell owned and operated Marathon Service Station during his 20's and later worked in the oilfield. While in the oilfield he suffered electrical burns, which affected him the remainder of his life. He worked for Yellow Freight Truck lines for many years and eventually retired from there. Russell and his wife lived in Mattoon for 30 years and returned to Olney around ten years ago. Russell enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and entertaining the grandkids. He was a member of Mattoon Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed his men's Sunday School class. He married his wife, Beverly Ann (Hornback), in Olney in 1951.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary Warren, and sister, Barbara Kay Totten.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Warren; daughter, Gail Lathrop and husband Wes; grandchildren, Shelley Brinkley, Ryan Warren, Augusta Brinkley, Chad Brinkley, and Jason Warren; 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, sisters, Maxine Keen and Bonetta Hodgdon; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Claws and Paws or Calvary Baptist Church.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont.
