John Edward Slichenmyer, 87, of Olney, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Services at First Presbyterian Church, Olney with burial at Crest Haven Cemetery in rural Claremont.

He was born on April 2, 1930, in Olney, IL, the son of Omer C. and Nellie (Glathart) Slichenmyer.  He married Mary Jane Bourne on July 1, 1954. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1994. He married Judy Brewer on February 14, 1996 and she survives.

John managed his family farm and in 1996, he was awarded the Conservation Farmer of the year. He was a member and ordained elder of the First Presbyterian Church.

John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Judy Slichenmyer; daughters, Arrah Jean Slichenmyer and Johnsie (Gary) Michel; sister, Barbara (Collins) Stoll; grandchildren, John (Abby) Michel, Mary (Tyler) Jackson; great grandchildren, Hadley and Natalie Jackson, and Luke Michel; step-children, Charles (Michelle) Brewer, Catherine (Donnie Jr.) Steber, Christina (Jesse) Henry, John (Leslie) Brewer, and Russell (Terri) Brewer; step-grandchildren, Alexandra and Adam Brewer, Roni Lambird, Nichole Steber, Mitchel Steber, Caleb Steber, Carli Jo and Jacob Henry, Keirsten, Sadie, Matthew, and Zora Brewer, James, Logan, Carson, and Jenna Brewer; step-great grandchildren, Aubrey, Asher, and Andrew Lambird, and Elijah, Bryton, and Brianna Steber.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Jane; parents and sister Betty Lou Slichenmyer.
