Neva Schahrer (Butcher)

Neva E. Butcher, age 86, a longtime resident of Boulder Hill, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Meadow Brook Manor in Naperville, IL. She was born on October 1, 1930 in Richland County, IL, the daughter of Carl and Jelia (Jennings) Schahrer.

Neva was united in marriage on August 13, 1949 to Arthur “Bob” Butcher and they spent 31 happy years together until his passing on September 13, 1980.

Mrs. Butcher was employed for many years as a registered nurse at Copley Hospital in Aurora, Illinois where she later served as a longtime volunteer. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery, IL. Neva was an avid seamstress, quilter, and crafter. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Angie Daniels of Yorkville, IL, Karen King of Yorkville, IL, Robert “Bob” (Jennifer) Butcher of Yorkville, IL, Kimberly Zarifis of Oswego, IL; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene Dawson of Carlinville, IL; sister-in-law, Peg Koertge of Olney, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Bob Butcher; her parents, Carl and Jelia Schahrer; and her brother, Loy Koertge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL with Pastor Peter Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in River Hills Cemetery in Batavia, IL.
