Melvin Hahn

Melvin N. Hahn, 69, of Olney died Tuesday December 26, 2000 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.  Funeral services at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney with Rev. Father Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stringtown.

Mr. Hahn was born on March 11, 1931 in Decatur, the son of Leas H. and Hilda Marie (Cochran) Hahn. He married Jeanette Margaret Zuber on June 19, 1956. She survives.

He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. He was the manager of Sherman's Department Store and former owner of KKC, Inc. He was also owner/operator of Hahn's Carpets since 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, a member of Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight, VFW, American Legion and Olney Elks. He especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Hahn is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hahn of Olney; seven children, Cindy Fritschle of Olney, Sue Jenner of Bethany,  Okla., Brad Hahn and his wife, Asfaneh of Evansville, Ind., Tim Hahn and his wife, Susanne of Olney, Scott Hahn and his wife, Sheryl of Olney, Sandi Hahn of Olney and Mike Hahn and his wife, Margaret of Olney; eighteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Doris Dehner and her husband, Bill of Monroe, Mich. and Irene Haase and her husband, George of Mt. Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary Ann and a brother, Clifford.
