Eugene McVaigh

Eugene Edward "Dutch" McVaigh was born October 5, 1929, and died September 15, 2006 at Richland Memorial Hospital in the presence of his wife and children after a long illness. He was 76.

Dutch was born in Parkersburg, the son of Roy Vernon McVaigh and Grace E. Newberry McVaigh, who preceded him in death.

Dutch was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of American Legion. He was a professional truck driver for much of his life, driving for Blue Flame Gas, Kralis, AMF and Roadmaster, from which he retired. He was an active member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.

Dutch married Karon Fisher, of Olney, on November 15, 1968 and she survives.  He is also survived by sons, John McVaigh and his wife, Stacey of Malta, N.Y. and Edward McVaigh of Olney and daughter, Kathryn McVaigh Hixon and her husband, Thomas of Claremont; five beautiful grandchildren, Alexis Hixon and Jacob Hixon of Claremont and Ryan McVaigh, Matthew McVaigh and Meghan McVaigh of Malta, N.Y.; siblings, Roy Vernon "Junior" McVaigh, Donald McVaigh, Betty McVaigh of Carrollton, Ga., Leona McVaigh, Rosemary "Sally" Gustin and Larry McVaigh; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
