Calvin Schrey

Calvin W. “Cal” Schrey, 84, of Olney, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney with Minister Derrell Brame and Minister Larry Weber officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with full military rites performed by Olney veterans.

Mr. Schrey was born August 5, 1927, in Richland County, the son of Frank William and Lucy (Burgener) Schrey. He married Vanetta Tate “Bunn” Runyon on January 16, 1948. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2007.

He owned and operated Schrey Marine. He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, member of American Legion, 40 & 8 and Gideon's International.

Mr. Schrey is survived by his son, Steven Schrey and his wife, Cynthia, of Olney; daughter, Karen Sterchi, of Olney; brother, Kenneth Schrey and his wife, Jean, of Olney; sister-in-law, Shelby Schrey, of Olney; six grandchildren, Aaron Schrey and his wife, Natalie, of Tampa, Fla., Brett Schrey, of St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Holler and her husband, Travis, of Robinson, Nakia Slone and her husband, Kevin, of Plainfield, Ind., Jay Sterchi and his wife, Jamie, of Vincennes, Ind., and Chris Sterchi and Sara Young, of Dundas; and great-grandchildren, Ashton and Alyssa Slone, Haylee and Brady Sterchi, Bailey and Callie Sterchi, Eli Young and Lincoln Holler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucy Schrey; wife, Vanetta Schrey; brother, Carrol; and great-great-grandson, Cohen Holler.
