Roy E. "Gene" Miller, 90, of Olney, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017, at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral services at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home with burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Claremont.

He was born on January 4, 1927 in Olney, the son of Everette and Nettie (Doser) Miller. He married Wanda Harris on December 3, 1949 at the West Liberty Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2013.

Gene worked at BF Goodrich for 14 years, Olney Savings and Loan for 25 years, Diel's Greenhouse, and IGA. He retired from banking at age 62 and enjoyed working with flowers and people until he was no longer able to. Gene took pleasure in ballroom and square dancing with his wife, Wanda.

Gene is survived by his son, Stephen E. Miller and wife Connie of Marshall, IL; daughters, Janet Newkirk and Rita Cannon both of Olney; grandsons, Alain Miller of Lynchburg, OH; Eric Newkirk of Dundas; Justin (Susanne) Simmons of Bone Gap; Matthew Cannon of Effingham; and Kenneth Cannon of Olney; granddaughters, Lesa (Dan) Durbin of Cincinnati, OH; and Teresa Newkirk of Olney; great grandsons, Trenton, Jaden, Noah, and Lane of Olney; Benjamin of Cincinnati, John and Cody of Lynchburg; Parker of Dundas; and Jacob of Bone Gap; great granddaughters, Alana Miller of Lynchburg, Emily Durbin of Cincinnati, Lexie of Olney; and Meyer of Dundas; two great great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents; and brothers, Lee Otis Miller and Carlin Miller.
