John R. "Jack" Leaf, 82, of Olney, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence. Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Baker officiating. Full military rites were performed by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Leaf was born on July 13, 1926, in Richland County, the son of Raymond and Cora (Taylor) Leaf. He married Grace Sloan on December 22, 1948. She preceded him in death on September 16, 1973. He had worked for the City of Olney and was a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Leaf is survived by his son, John C. Leaf of Olney; son, Jim Leaf and his wife, Barb of Springfield; son, Jerry Leaf and his wife, Millie of Olney; son, David Leaf and his wife, Joyce Price of Calhoun; son, Gary Leaf and his wife, Sheila of Olney; brother, George Leaf and his wife, Dorothy of Olney; sister, Barbara Heath; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace, four brothers, and three sisters.
