Betty Diel (Kosack)

Betty N. (Diel) Kosack, 91, passed peacefully September 1, 2018 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Champaign.  Mrs. Kosack was born Oct. 15, 1926 to Paris F. and Chloe L. (Ring) Diel, Noble, Il.  She graduated from Olney High School in 1944, and met soulmate, Joe Kosack, at a USO dance at George Field.  He was smitten, and hitch-hiked to her home the next day, bringing a gift of nylons.

They married in 1946 and after a couple of years in Philadelphia, returned to Olney where they raised four children. Along the way, she was employed at Brazitis Law Office, Sears, and payroll division at Kex Products. Betty was ahead of her time with the realization of the importance of organic gardening, holistic lifestyle, and protecting our environment.  Despite her sweet and quiet nature, she would champion her beliefs. She had 61 cherished years with her husband Joe and missed him dearly.

Preceding her in death was her husband Joseph E. Kosack III, son, Dr. J. Richard Kosack; brothers, Delmar and Sylvanus Jackson Diel.

She is survived by children, Constance (Dr. Michael) Drewes; Champaign; Cary Kosack, Olney; Kathy (Terry) Greene, Gilbert, AZ; daughter-in-law, Victoria Kosack, Phoenix, AZ.; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren;  Betty N.
