Leonard A. Beavers, 73, of Newton, died Sunday January 30, 2000 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Funeral services at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Rev. Father Joe Malloy officiating. Burial in Westlawn Memorial Park in Newton with military rites by Newton veterans organizations. (TEC 4 US Army WW II)

Mr. Beavers was born August 5, 1926 in Jasper County and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton, Newton VFW and American Legion.

Mr. Beavers is survived by his wife, Norma M. Beavers of Newton; three sons, Ken Beavers and his wife, Janice of Claremont, Kevin Beavers and his wife, Jane and Kent Beavers and his wife, Nancy all of Newton; one daughter, Keatha VanBlaricum of Olney; one sister, Marilyn Dougherty and her husband, Harry of Olathe, Kansas and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
