Lowell Goldsmith, Jr., 69, of West Salem, died Monday, Aug. 22, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.  Burial in the Crest Haven Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Olney Veterans Organization.

Goldsmith was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Jasper Co., the son of Lowell, Sr. and Lela Grace (Michels) Goldsmith. He married Anna Mae Eyer Nov. 27, 1947 in Olney.

He was the manager of Sherman's Department Store in Olney, the owner and operator of Goldsmith Paint and Wallpaper in Olney from 1956-1971 and the retired owner and operator of Goldsmith Furniture in West Salem from which he ran from 1971-1992. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the Olney American Legion Post #30 and a member of the Edwards County Medical Association.

He is survived by his wife, of West Salem; a son, Eric Todd Goldsmith and his wife, Debbie, of West Salem; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (LuAnne) Stevens of Albion; two sisters, Jennie Cox, of Edwardsville, and Naomi Welch, of Belleville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Weber, of Plano, Texas; three granddaughters, Meghann Stevens, Erica Goldsmith and Jennifer Goldsmith; three nieces and seven nephews.

Goldsmith was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon.
