Lowell Adolph Rudolphi

CHILLICOTHE - Lowell A. "Rudy" Rudolphi, 77, of 1620 Santa Fe Ave. died at 7:13 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center.

Born Nov. 27, 1921, in Wendelin to A.H. and Caroline Fehrenbacher Rudolphi, he married Mary Louise Coan on June 21, 1945, in Fort Lewis, Wash. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Sharon) Hollandsworth and Carol Smith, both of Chillicothe; one sister, Ruth Martin of Sedalia, Mo.; five granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
 
He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville for 13 years as a machinist, then was head of custodians at Illinois Valley Central School District and a bus driver for 30 years. He was a former mail carrier for Chillicothe. He worked at Chilli Bowl for five years. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of American Legion Post 0009 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4999, both in Chillicothe. He was one of the founding fathers of Rescue 33, a former Chillicothe firefighter and a former member of Arrowhead Country Club. He was a member of the Chillicothe Township Commission and a former boys and girls summer league baseball/softball coach. He was the Rotary Citizen of the Year in 1994, and he received the Golden Rule award given by J.C. Penney. He volunteered more than 1,000 hours at Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
 
The Rev. Anthony Ego will officiate at Weber Funeral Home, where recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. Cremation will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be later in Wendelin.
