Loren Layton "Shorty" Delzell, 79 of Olney died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Delzell was born on December 25, 1923 in Richland County, the son of Harry Edward and Charlotte (Ferren) Delzell. He married Betty Louise Rector. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1995.

He was a retired warehouse manager for oil field products. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as past commander and a member of Eagles.

Mr. Delzell is survived by a son, Loren Layton Delzell of Xenia; two daughters, Clara Stanley of Noble and Jana Dehner of Olney; a brother, James E. Delzell; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Robert L. Delzell.
