Joe Cummins

Joseph C. Cummins, 60, died Tuesday,  January 10, 1984 in his home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Cummins was born November 5, 1923 in Olney, the son of James F. and Maria (Brinker) Cummins. He married Vera Miller August 12, 1946 and she survives.

Mr. Cummins was a Pfc in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning a Purple Heart.

He was a geologist and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney; the American Legion; VFW; Elks; and Association of Professional Geologists.

Other survivors include four daughters, Marcella Zorn, Ann Arbor, Mich., Teresa Current, Decatur; Joanne Shumaker and Jan Cummins both of Carbondale; his mother, Mrs. Maria Cummins of Olney; three brothers, Dr. James Cummins, Rentham, Mass.; Frank and Patrick Cummins both of Olney; five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Sean; and a brother, George.
