John E. Slater

John E. Slater, 77, of Olney died Sunday April 16, 2000 at his residence.  Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Francis Plew officiating. Burial in Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney with full military rites by Olney Veterans organizations.

Mr. Slater was born October 10, 1922 in Richland County, the son of Joseph Galen and Buena Vista (Miller) Slater. He married Ann Meadows May 5, 1944. She survives.

He was a retired parts manager from Hooker Implements and was a member of Faith Bible Church in Olney. He was a veteran having served in World War II as a U.S. Marine.

Mr. Slater is survived by his wife, Ann Slater of Olney; four sons, Johnny Slater and his wife, Linda of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tommy Joe Slater and his wife, Beverly of Alma, Michael Glen Slater and his wife, Rosalie of Olney and Dick Slater and his wife, Judy of Teutopolis; one daughter, LeaAnn Slater of Olney; two brothers, Elmer Slater and his wife, Martha of Virginia and Richard Slater of Biloxi, Mississippi; two sisters, Buena Vista King and her husband, Clifton of Spokane, Washington and Hattie Rae Adamson of Casper, Wyoming; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
