Louis Schoffstoll

Louis “Lou” Eugene Schoffstoll 95 of Greenville, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 20, 2017.  A Funeral service held at Ingram Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Rothe officiating.

Lou was born July 26, 1921 in Otwell, Arkansas, the son of the late Harry Schoffstoll and Martha Grace Stewart Schoffstoll.  He was raised and educated in Olney, Illinois.  In 1942 Lou joined the Army where he served in combat in Europe and Korea.  On May 10, 1946, he married Frances “Fran” Rudolph.  Lou returned to active duty and they lived in Europe until 1952 before returning to Dallas.  He retired from the military in 1962 after 20 years of service as Lt. Colonel.

Lou entered the civilian workforce as Director of Purchasing for the Dallas County Community College District and all seven campuses were built under his direction.  He retired from DCCCD in 1981 and made their home at Lake Tawakoni for five years.  Lou and Fran moved to South Texas, returning to Quinlan in 2003 to make their home here again.

Lou’s favorite pass time was work! He loved to see things grow and had roses or a vegetable garden wherever he lived.  Lou taught himself to knit when he was in the Army and after he retired, knitted booties for both babies and adults and delighted in giving them away.

He is preceded in death by his parents, an only son David in 1972, and oldest daughter Loraine in 2005.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 70 years Fran; daughter Karen Cadis and husband Allan of Quinlan; grandchildren Matthew and wife Donna, Christopher and wife Laura, Brandon, Vanessa and husband Lonnie, and Shannon and husband Jason; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of dear friends.
