One person died Friday morning in a house fire in Olney.  Firemen were called to a fully-involved structure fire at 3358 East Mount Pleasant Road shortly before 4:45 Friday morning, and upon entering the burned-out structure, found the body.  The person’s identity was not immediately released.  Officials with the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office and the State Police Crime Scene Services are investigating the fire.  Firemen from Olney, West Salem and the Claremont-Bonpas fire department helped battle the fire.  Richland County Coroner, Randy Kistler, said there was no evidence of foul play.

Robert Edward “Zeke” Redman, 93, of Olney passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at his residence.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Pastor  Mike Root officiating. Burial at Shields Cemetery with full military rites at graveside.

Robert was born on July 11, 1920 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of William Edward and Anna Elizabeth (Glathart) Redman.  He married Viola Marie Shields on August 27, 1955.

Robert was a  WW II U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked as a service man for the Coca-Cola plant in Olney. He was also a farmer and had worked in construction.

He is survived by his son, Russell Redman and wife, Cathy of Olney; Stepdaughter, Marie Davis of Palestine, IL; Stepdaughter, Jean Olson and husband, Jack of South Carolina; Sister, Mildred Redman of Olney; Brother, Donald Redman and wife, Florence of Olney; Brother-in-law, Arnold Anderson of Kansas; Six Grandchildren, Cindy Mashburn and husband, Jerry of Olney; Sue Davis of Olney; William Redman of Georgia; Eric Davis and wife, Jean of Indiana; Lorry Olson of North Carolina; and Amanda Flood and husband, Lance of North Carolina; Seven Great Grandchildren, Julianna Mashburn, Daimon Mashburn, Jozlyn Redman, Brooke Davis, Rachel Davis, Brittany Davis, and Cooper Flood; Niece, Erin VanOmmen and husband, Kenny of Kansas; Nephews, Dave Redman and fiance, Stacey Walden of Olney and Devon Anderson and wife, Tracy of Florida; Several great nieces and nephews and one great great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Ray Redman and his wife, Evelyn, sister, Yvonne Anderson, sister-in-law, Elaine Libby and her husband, Fred, and granddaughter, Kerri Mae Redman.
