Richard W. Runyon

Richard W. Runyon, 49, of Mattoon, formerly of Olney died Wednesday, March 29, 1995 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.  Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery with full military rites.

Runyon was born October 1, 1945 in Olney, the son of Oscar E. and Alice (Knackmuhs) Runyon. He married Shirley Brown November 21, 1965 in Olney.

He was a network engineer for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney and was also a member of the Mattoon VFW Post. He was a Vietnam Conflict veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star with V Device.

He is survived by his wife, of Mattoon; a son, Stephen Runyon of Mattoon; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Leah) Shoot of Mattoon; a grandson; three brothers, Donald Runyon, and Leo Runyon both of Olney and Charles Runyon of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Ahlfield of Olney and Rosalie Laughlin of Lawrenceville; his mother and father-in-law, Harold and Jerry Brown of Olney.

Runyon was preceded in death by his parents.
