Newton Soldier is Killed in Alaska

Hollis P. Steen Jr., 21, of Newton, Illinois was killed Thursday in a collision of his car and a cement truck near Anchorage, Alaska.

Steen was stationed with the Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska. The body is being returned to Marshall Funeral Home, Newton.

Hollis Paul Steen Jr., 21, native of Newton, was killed in an auto accident in Anchorage, Alaska, July 2, 1970.  Funeral services at Marshall Funeral Home in Newton with burial in Mound Cemetery near Willow Hill.

He was in the U.S. Army (Cpl Co A 172 Spt BN - Vietnam) and he attended East Richland High School. His parents, Hollis and Betty (Wehrly) Steen, formerly lived in the Seminary community and are former residents of Claremont and Olney before moving to Newton.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Alexander) Steen, his parents of Newton and two half-sisters, Mary Walker of Greenwood, Ind and Mrs. Maxine Dawes of Radcliffe, Ky.
