Linda Dowty (Gumble)

Linda Marie Dowty Gumble, 69,  died July 15, 2017 at the home of her son in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, surrounded by her family, following a lengthy battle with cancer.  She was born on December 21, 1947 in Olney, Illinois daughter of Lora and Lester Dowty of Claremont, Illinois. 

Linda was a graduate of the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas receiving her BSN in 1992, a Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing member and a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Smithville, Tennessee. 

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured each encounter with her grandchildren as they developed their unique personalities and grew from infants into young children and adults.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Dowty; brother-in-law Jerry Melvin Umfleet and nephew Erik Doser. 

Linda is survived by her husband of over 48 years, Harry Gumble; daughter Amy Marie Gumble Cook and husband Brent Cook; sons Jeffrey Gumble and James Gumble and wife Mary Ann Gadia; three granddaughters; one grandson; two great granddaughters, two step-great grandsons;  brother, Gary Dowty and wife Mary; sister Judith Umfleet, sister-in-law Janet Dowty, many nieces, nephews, cousins and her aunt Betty Doan Rosafort of New York state.

So sorry about Linda!  Remembering our visit at the class reunion.  Talking about grade school and high school days.  Always considered you guys as life long friends.  She will be missed, her family values will be a chairsed part of her legacy!
