Douglas Worstell

Allen Douglas Worstell, 68, of Vincennes, passed away at 7:17 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at the Lodge of the Wabash.

He was born Aug. 28, 1945 in Fort Stockton, Texas, the son of Paul and Etheleda (Osterdock) Worstell. He was a chef at various restaurants including the Holiday Inn, John Paul Restaurant, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Harmony Society. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Marie B. Weiler on Aug. 28, 1973 and they made their life together for 41 years. He recently retired from PTI Transport and he loved to play bingo. He was the chef for the Sacred Heart Picnic carryout dinners.

He is survived by his wife, Marie B. Worstell; two sisters, Charlotte Folks and her husband, Cecil of Lawrenceville, Ill., and Leda Geltze and her husband, Jerry of Dundas, Ill. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, the Robert Weiler family.

He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Father Ron Kreilein officiating. Interment will be private.
