Phillip Muhs - Class Of 1979

Phillip Muhs

Phillip Loy Muhs, 56, of Olney, Illinois passed away May 15, 2018 at the home of his sister, after a battle with cancer. He was born May 26, 1961, the son of Charles and Fern Muhs of Olney, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his mother and brother-in-law Gene Boone.

He is survived by his father; sisters Cheri Boone and Jackie (Ted) Ley; brother Steve Muhs; step-mother Shirley Muhs; step-brother Roger Casteel and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phillip lived in Olney for the first 18 years of his life, then moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked as a commercial roofer and foreman for Supreme Roofing Company for 20 years across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. He was a devoted Christian and drove a bus for the ministry to deaf children near Dallas. He traveled throughout the west of America and found a special place in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Texas was his home away from home. He built and remodeled houses, after he retired, around the Dallas area. He bought old cars, fixed them up and sold them on contract to people needing a break. He loved working outside and going to flea markets to buy and sell everything from tractors to spoon collections. He loved hiking, fishing and his two dogs.

Phillip went out of his way to help people. His family and friends know that better than anyone. 2 Timothy 4:17 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois, with a visitation beginning one hour prior.
