Donna Michels (Strawbridge) - Class Of 1968

Donna Michels (Strawbridge)

Donna Lea Strawbridge, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at her home in Olney, Illinois. She was born March 24, 1950, in Olney, to Robert “Bob” and Esther (Wade) Michels. She married Michael Strawbridge on December 20, 1986.

She graduated from East Richland High School in Olney in 1968. She worked as a secretary for several local oil companies. She retired from Olney Central College library in May 2013.

Donna loved to read, especially to her grandchildren when they were younger, and great-grandchildren. She loved planting flowers in her garden. When she could no longer care for them herself, she still appreciated Michael keeping her flower beds full of blooms. Donna never met a stranger. Those who knew her, loved her. She had an adventurous spirit and would often take off on a day’s journey unknown, just to see where the road took her. She was always doing for others and hated to tell anyone “no.” She was a kind and generous lady, who always put her family first. Even in her last days, she was concerned about their needs above her own. Her smile could brighten a room and her laughter was infectious. Her family enjoyed making her giggle uncontrollably by telling her favorite joke. Her light will be missed from this life but never forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; son, Garren (Michelle) Pflaum of Brooklet, Georgia; grandchildren, Courtney (Jon McGill) Pflaum, Mitchell (Taylor Barrick) Pflaum, and Braeden Hesseltine; great-grandchildren Kinley Pflaum and Kyslee Pflaum; brother Dean (Floella) Michels of Olney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn (Michels) Davis.

Per Donna’s wishes, no formal services are planned; however, a celebration of life visitation will be held, Saturday, June 9, 2018, 12 pm-2 pm, at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, 205 East Elm Street, Olney, IL
