Mary Virginia (Mezo) Bodell, age 67, of Washington, Illinois passed away at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at her residence.

Born July 28, 1950 in Centralia, IL she was a daughter to James L. and Katharine (Williams) Mezo. On October 8, 1988 she married Leslie K. Bodell in Washington, IL. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2010.

She worked as a lab technician for the Peoria Sanitation Department and also taught Biology at ICC. Mary was an avid animal lover who was active in the Peoria Academy of Science, Audubon, and Geology Sections. She was a loving sister and aunt, known to her family as “Ginger” and “Gingerbread”, who loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews, great-neices and great-nephews.

Survivors include one brother Jim (Jessica) Mezo of Evansville, IN; one nephew James (Katie) Mezo of Whitestown, IN; one niece Julie (Hank) Burton of Evansville, IN; five great-nephews: Brandt, Gavin, Damien, Dalton, and Liam; two great-nieces: Isabella and Renee; as well as two step daughters: Jean (Dale) Jorgenson and Kathleen (David) Konkle.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, Reverend Jeannette Becker officiating and burial in Streitmatter Cemetery in Princeville, IL.
