Eleanor Evans (Spieth)

Eleanor Louis (Evans) Spieth, age 94, of Olney, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018.  She was born on the April 25, 1924, in Olney IL, the daughter of Vohne Alba Evans and Mertle May (Swinson) Evans. 

Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Olney and graduated from Olney Township High School in 1942. She married the late Fred Spieth Jr. of Olney on August 12, 1942. They had two sons, David Curtis Spieth, who is deceased, and Lawrence Joseph Spieth, age 62. The family was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 16, 1970.

Eleanor was a loving wife and mother, and a vital member of the Spieth Studio family. She spent her entire life developing her talents. She was an accomplished painter, a skilled seamstress, an award-winning golfer, a licensed Master Gardner, and a member of the Richland County Historical Society. Eleanor had a passion for Genealogy, and worked tirelessly on the her own, and the family history of others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served the church in many capacities. She courageously shared her testimony of the Church, and of Jesus Christ. Her family is in peace, knowing she is reunited with her Savior, and Family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her dearest husband, sister Marion O’Neal Kribbs , half-brother Michael Evans, and niece Eleanor Ann Meyer.

Her legacy will live on with her youngest son Lawrence Spieth and his wife Cindy, his children Joseph Aaron Spieth and Angel Spieth-Brown, alongside the late David Spieth’s devoted children Scott David Spieth, Angela Maire Koop-Spieth, Charles Fredrick Spieth, Vohne Evans Spieth, Sarah Jane Meik, Stuart Rex Spieth, Becky Eliza Spieth- Boyd. Her devoted nieces Cynthia Jane Comb and Amy Jo Packer, and all 29 great-grandchildren, and even one great, great grandson.
