Harold W. Byrd, 89, of Davenport, Iowa died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Senior Star at Elmore Place in Davenport.  A memorial service held at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial at Rock Island National Cemetery.

Harold was born December 1, 1923 in Bridgeport, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Harold was united in marriage to Margaret L. "Margie" Hinterscher on November 25, 1950 in Olney, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2009.  He retired from Alcoa, Riverdale Works in 1985 after 34 years of employment.

Those left to honor his memory include his children Gloria Byrd of LeClaire, Iowa; Gary and Mary Lou Byrd of Donahue, Iowa; Larry and Pam Byrd of Dayton, Ohio; Loretta Yigas of Bettendorf, Iowa and Wesley Byrd of LeClaire, Iowa; his grandchildren Nathan and Kellie Byrd, Laura & David Sufka, Maria Byrd, Sara Byrd, Alex Byrd, Frank and Gwen Fuerte, and Nick Yigas

In addition to his wife, Margie, he was preceded in death by his parents; and by his son-in-law, John N. Yigas.
