Henry C. Brookfield, 95, of Olney, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Henry was born on October 8, 1923 in Olney, IL, the son of Edmund and Emma (Ginder) Brookfield.  He married Wilma (Grimes) on October 18, 1956 and she preceded him in death on November 9, 1992.

Henry worked for Coca-Cola for 43 years as a shift supervisor. He was a US Army Veteran. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. He was an avid gardener and had a large vegetable garden.

Henry is survived by his son, Elmer A. Brookfield of Effingham, IL; step-son, Dan Bigard and wife Thelma of West Liberty; step-daughter, Kathy Curry and husband Jerry of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, John Bigard, Sean Bigard, Amy Bigard, and Travis Curry; several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step-son, Larry Bigard, two sisters, and one brother.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.  Burial in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Cremation Rites were accorded.  Full Military Rites performed at the graveside.
