Gary Wayne Paul

Gary Wayne Paul, 58, of Brazil, Indiana died Monday, July 25, 2005, in his residence following an extended illness.

He had been employed as a systems analyst with Reuben Donnelly in Terre Haute and EDS in Indianapolis.

He was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Olney, Ill,, to Leo F. Paul and Mary F. Selby Paul.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Blakney Paul, whom he married March 30, 1970; his mother, of Olney; children, Sheryl Hill of Brazil, Stephen and Julie Paul of Brazil and Brian and Jamie Paul of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Blake and Mariah Hill, Emily and Sarah Paul and Logan Payne and Machenze Byrd and Ethan Paul; brothers, David and Shirley Paul of St. Marie, Ill., and Terry and Marsha Paul of Newton, Ill.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ella and Larry Scherer of Texas, Thomas and Jean Blakney of Olney, Patricia and Steve Denney of Florida, Earl Blakney of Texas and Mike and Julane Blakney of Texas; his mother-in-law, Doris Blakney of Olney; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two grandsons, Devon Michael Paul and Noah Thomas Paul.

He graduated from East Richland High School in 1964, was a graduate of Olney Central College and attended Southern Illinois University. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Brazil Nazarene Church, where he had served as treasurer and head usher and had driven the church bus.

He was preciously active and was a former president of the Clay Youth League and was active in the Wabash Valley Officials Association, having refereed basketball and umpired baseball for the IHSAA and was honored to have been chosen to umpire an IHSAA regional baseball tournament. He enjoyed spending time with his children and being involved in sports activities with them. Services are 1 p.m. Friday in French Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery.
