David Fredrick Drewes

David F. Drewes, 59, of Springfield, IL, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1946, in Olney, the son of Alfred and Monica Hahn Drewes. He married Winona L. "Noni" Wilkens in 1969 in Olney.

Mr. Drewes was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals and an expert rifle badge. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He retired as a tariff administrator in the financial analysis division from the Illinois Commerce Commission in 2001. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower.

Survivors: wife, Winona; two sons, Brian David (wife, Kim) Drewes and Philip Kevin Drewes (companion, Mallory McKinney), both of Springfield; three grandchildren; parents, Alfred and Monica of Olney; sister, Barb (husband, Rich) O'Brien of Arnold, Mo.; four brothers, Dan (wife, Barb) Drewes of Chatham, Jerry (wife, Linda) Drewes of Rochester, Mike (wife, Connie) Drewes of Champaign and Bill (wife, Kathy) Drews of Oblong; seven nieces; 13 nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Mass: Church of the Little Flower, the Rev. Steven Janoski officiating. Burial: Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
