Donald H. Watson

Donald H. Watson, 85, of Olney, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Don was born on April 11, 1932 in Paducah, KY, the son of Charles Hugh and Sarah Sally (Gordon) Watson.  He married Jo Ann (Smith) on April 10, 1951.  She survives him.

After graduating from ERHS in 1950, Don worked as a deputy sheriff and part time school bus driver.  He went on to become a congressional aide for many years, after which he opened Oak Valley Wood Products and worked until his retirement.  Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Olney Elks Club, and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157.

Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann Watson; sons, Gary Watson and wife Peggy of Olney and Jeff Watson and wife Heidi of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Jessica Watson, Billy Watson, Misty Watson, and Donnie Watson; great-grandson Jayden Kissel, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Charlene Stabler, Virginia Welker, and Ann Shipley, and grandson Josh Blackwell.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
