Loyd E. Stivers

Loyd Earnest Stivers, 77, of Neoga, and formerly of Mattoon, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Stivers was born January 28, 1933, in Olney, the son of Raymond and Opal (Blackford ) Stivers. He married Betty McFarland on December 22, 1952, in Mattoon. He married Aleta (Maycroft) Evans on February 18, 1983, in Neoga. They renewed their vows at their 25th wedding anniversary.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Neoga, and a charter member and former President of Eagles Club of Mattoon. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, during the Korean War and was a retired Supervisor of the United States Post Office of Mattoon after serving from 1956 to 1988. He loved his family. He enjoyed traveling with Aleta, fishing and horse racing. He was a dedicated Cubs fan and loved to attend all Neoga sporting events. "GO INDIANS!" 

Loyd leaves his beloved wife of 27 years, Aleta Stivers. He also leaves his children, Robert McFarland and wife, Jan, of Oakwood, Douglas Stivers and wife, Debbie, of Mattoon, Bonnie Higgenbotham and husband, Terry, of Paris, Keith Stivers and wife, Kay, of Mattoon, N. Gene Evans, of Neoga, Thomas W. Evans and wife, Mona, of Neoga, Pam Storm and husband, Aubrey, of Neoga, Peggy Frailey and husband, Ellis, of Neoga, and Penny Hess and husband, Steve, of Neoga; brother, Bobbie Stivers and wife, Doris, of Pesotum; grandchildren, Ryan McFarland, Tina Dann, Tommy Evans, Jason Stivers, Christina Price, Patricia St. Clair, Brian Metzke, Ashley Stivers, Jasmine Stivers, Kimberly Stivers, Jessica Evans, Ryan Evans, Miles Storm, Paul Frailey, Chelsea Hess, Ray Storm and Bryan Storm; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Madison McFarland, Logan and Emma Dann, Gannon, Madison, Kaiden and Zayne Stivers, Terrika and McKenzie Price, Allison Henderson, Joshylnn and Kansas St. Clair, Trent Evans, Payton Storm and Brittnay Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Opal Stivers; son, Dale K. Evans; brother, Jerry Stivers; sister, Corrine Roth; and one great-granddaughter, Dezarea Woods.

Military services conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4325 of Mattoon. Funeral services held at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Brozenec, of Hopedale, and Reverend Darin Hansen, of Neoga, officiating. Burial in Neoga Memorial Cemetery.

William Bowen (1951)

Didn't know Lloyd well.  He was a Senior - I was a Junior. Stivers a well-liked name in Olney.
