Leo Runyon

Leo E. Runyon, 80, of Olney, died  Monday, November 19, 2012, at his residence.  Cremation rites were accorded.  Full military rites at the funeral home with Reverend David McNabb officiating.

Leo was born October 19, 1932, the son of Oscar and Alice (Knakmuhs) Runyon. He married Luci Vaughn on October 15, 1973, in Olney. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1996.

He was an avid outdoorsmen. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting, game hunting, among many other outdoor activities including travel. He mentored his grandchildren through his lifestyle. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956, during the Korean War as a Loadmaster. He spent much of his time in the service stationed in Japan and flew to 42 countries. He was active with the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations.

Leo is survived by his special friend, Maxine Howe, of Olney; son, Greg Runyon and his wife, Cheryl, of Olney; son, Brett Runyon and his wife, Carol, of Johnston City; daughter, Suzi Steber and her husband, Phillip, of Newton; grandchildren, Dakota Steber, BoDee Steber and Jada Runyon; brothers, Charles "Bude" Runyon and Don Runyon; and sisters, Evelyn Ahlfield and Rosie Laughlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Alice Runyon; wife, Luci Runyon; and brother, Richard Runyon.
