Monty S. Berry

Monty Samuel Berry, 86, of Berryville, IL, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Funeral service at Berryville Christian Church, Calhoun, Illinois with burial at Crest Haven Cemetery, rural Claremont.

Monty was born on August 19, 1931, in Holdenville, OK, the son of Samuel and Sibeth Berry.  He married Edith Arlene (Beaulieu) on June 17, 1951.  To them was born one son, David, of Berryville.  Edith preceded Monty in death on September 17, 1991.  Later in life, Monty married Marie Launt (Imbler) on December 10, 1994.  She preceded him in death on May 14, 2002.  

Monty was a loving husband.  He was a longtime farmer of both crops and livestock.  He was one of the first farmers to raise hogs in confinement and a pioneer of no-till farming.  He sold DeKalb seed for 50 years and was a 4-H leader.  He was also involved with Civil Defense and the Shiloh Cemetery Association.  Monty was a member, elder, and at one time, a board chairman of the Berryville Christian Church.

Monty is survived by his son, David (Lisa) Berry of Berryville; grandson, Dustin (Natalie) Berry of Olney; granddaughter Jessica (Don) Hinckley of Berryville; great-grandsons Maddex and Dominic Berry; great-granddaughters Viola, Olivia, and Amelia Hinckley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Arlene and Marie, brother Jack (Violet) Berry, and sister Juanita (Bill) Harris.
