Russell Harold Snider

Russell H. Snider, 76, of Dundas, died Sunday, December 18, 2011, at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with his Savior Jesus.  Funeral services at Mt. Gilead Church in rural Dundas with Pastor Jerry Bush and Pastor Matt Johnson officiating. Burial in Dundas Cemetery with full military rites performed by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Snider was born October 21, 1935, in Richland County, the son of Glen Snider and Helen (Williamson) Taylor. He married Shirley Semple on October 30, 1955.

He was a route salesman for 41 years with Prairie Farms. He spent 21 years of service in the National Guard. He was a farmer, an avid fisherman, a lover of Gospel music, and a woodworker. He held numerous leadership positions at Mt. Gilead Church, where he was a member for his entire life. For many years, Russell toured and recorded with The Harmonaires, a Southern Gospel group. Russell will be remembered by many for his generosity, his care, and his encouragement.

Mr. Snider is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Snider, of Dundas; son, Randall Snider and his wife, Christine, of Bloomington; daughter, Dr. Sherri Snider, of Olney; daughter, Tammy Harmon and her husband, James, of Olney; grandson, Johnathan Harmon, of Olney; sister-in-law, Judy Snider, of Dundas; sister-in-law, Shelby Snider, of Dundas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Glen Romaine “Butch” Snider and Ronald Lee Snider.
