Mary Joann (Schonert) Diel, 83, of Caseyville, Illinois, born Wednesday, October 18, 1933, in Richland County, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

Mary worked as a Pharmacy Tech for Home Pharmacy. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Olney, Illinois and more recently First United Presbyterian Church of Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Diel, parents, Walter and Margaret (Kaltrider) Schonert, son-in-law, John A. Stratton.

Surviving are her children, Judy Stratton of Swansea, IL, Jerry Diel of Fairview Heights, IL; five grandchildren, Melody Stratton, Billy Stratton, Buddy Stratton, Jeremy Diel, T.J. Diel; brothers, Verne (Marilyn) Bear and Gene (Sylvia) Moore; two sisters-in-law, Audra Shan and Gladys Fitzpatrick; cousin, Linda Baker of Olney, IL and many nieces & nephews.

Private Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church, Olney, Illinois, with Rev. David McNabb officiating. Private interment.
