Albert Huffman

Albert Benedict Huffman, 69, of West Dundee died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Burial in River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee.

Mr. Huffman was born on December 12, 1932 in Olney, the son of Georgia and A.O. Huffman. He married Della Marie Tucker in 1955 and she survives.

He graduated from Olney Township High School in 1951. He earned his B.A. in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University, where he obtained his teaching certificate in 1955. He married and was immediately drafted into the United States Navy where he served from 1955 to 1957. After his term in the Navy, he was hired by the Barrington Community Unit School District in 1957. He began his teaching career at Sunny Hill Elementary School in 1957, then continued at Hickory Hill Junior School in 1959, where he taught and coached sports. He later received his master's degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. He then served as principal at Hickory Hill Junior High School, he transferred to Barrington Middle School Station Campus where he taught until his retirement in 1997, completing a 40-year career in teaching.

Mr. Huffman was very active in the community of West Dundee and at St. Catherine of Siena Church.

Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife of 47 years, Della Marie Huffman of West Dundee; a son, Dr. Ronald Huffman; a daughter, Michelle; two brothers, John Huffman and Tom Huffman and a sister, Georgia Page.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Harrell.
