Morris "Gene" Gardner, 78 of rural Mt. Erie, IL passed away at 1:45AM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his residence.

Gene was born March 29, 1933 in Mt. Erie, IL. His parents were Joseph Paul and Mabel Fern (Harrison) Gardner. He married Sharon Knackmuhs June 16, 1962 and she survives.

He was a member of the Little Wabash United Methodist Church, and a member of West Salem American Legion, Wayne County Farm Bureau, and North Wayne County School Board. He was also a veteran serving during the Korean conflict.

Gene is survived by his wife Sharon of Mt. Erie, daughter; Jennifer Greathouse of Oblong, IL, sons; Brett and Dennis Gardner both of Mt. Erie, sister; Arlie (Russel) Gill of West Salem, and grandchildren; Kendrick and Anna Rose Greathouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
