Lamont Boyd "Monte" Forsyth, 84, of Evansville, formerly of Olney passed away on November 3, 2017 in Evansville, IN. Services at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney.

Monte was born June 8, 1933 in Olney, IL a son of Lamont and Jessie (Torrens) Forsyth.  He married Sara Ann White on September 21, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olney. She preceded him in death in 2004.

Monte graduated from ERHS in 1951 and graduated Hanover College in 1955 where he played football and baseball. He was a proud member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at Hanover. Monte joined the US Navy after college and served two years on an aircraft carrier. Monte worked at the family lumber company before he began teaching in the ERHS system. During his coaching career he coached baseball, basketball, football, track, and golf. He also officiated baseball and football games for many years. Monte was an avid Cubs fan and kept his own scorebook and stats. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Zwilling of Evansville, IN and son, Lamont Forsyth Jr. and wife Jill of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Forsyth, Jamie (Joe) Russell, Jared (Sierra) Zwilling, Kyle Forsyth, and A.J. Zwilling; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Monte is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and two sisters; and infant son, Steven Mark Forsyth.
