Harold Eugene Michels

Harold E. Michels, 55, of Olney, died February 6, 1990 of natural causes following a long illness, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Mr. Michels was born August 10, 1934 at Albion, IL, the son of Albert and Myrtle Hortin Michels. He married Marilyn Joyce Petty on December 29, 1957 in Olney and she survives.

He owned and operated Mike's Ice Cream Shop for many years. He then owned and operated J. & H. Communications. He also sold Shaklee products and worked for A. L. Williams Insurance.

He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church where he served as chairman of the Worship Committee, was a song leader, soloist, choir leader and he operated the sound system at the church. He was also an elder of the church.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran, 38 year member of the Cummins Municipal Band and was very active in the Olney Arts Council musical productions and played in the Olney Community College string group.He was active in the Boy Scouts as a leader and was also an Eagle Scout.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Gregory A. Michels; two daughters, Katherine Jo Keimig and Cheryl A. Michels; a sister, Mary Margaret Hovey; his parents; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
