Wanda Tipton (King)

Wanda Louise King, 81, of Pana passed away suddenly Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Pana Community Hospital Emergency Room.  She was born on March 19, 1936 in Yale, IL the daughter of C.C. and Hazel Tipton.  She married James King on December 27, 1953 in Dundas, IL and he survives in Pana, IL.

She had worked as a governance, also at Mallory’s, Pana Community Hospital & Prairie Rose Health Care Center, both in the Dietary Department, County Market, where she enjoyed doing demonstrations and was an Election Official.  She loved volunteering her time and talents to Meals on Wheels, Hospice and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She was a member of the United In Faith Church in Pana, Red Hat Society, Eagles, Elks, Moose, Home Extension and Home & Gardens.  She enjoyed golfing, gardening & flowers, reading, crafts, traveling, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, Sarasota, FL and Longmont, CO, and decorating for each holiday.  A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her greatest enjoyment was babysitting for her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her daughter, Tina (Walter) Evans of Vandalia; sons: Stan (Susan) King and Jim King, both of Pana; beloved grandchildren: Jeremy (Robyn) Easton of Longmont, CO, Jason (Becky) Easton of Chatham, Stephanie Thomas of Vandalia, Greg (Faith) Evans of Vandalia, Cory King of Pana, Chase King of Pana and Trever (Rachael) King of Taylorville; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Jackle-Hugh officiating.  Burial at Linwood Cemetery in Pana.
