Anita Scherer (Clodfelter)

Anita Louise Clodfelter, 80, of West Salem, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2017 in her home on her farm, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Richland County to Elza Raymond and Alfreda Fern (Burgener) Scherer. She married Eldon Clodfelter on November 9, 1958 in Olney.

Anita is survived by her daughters: Sheryl McVaigh and husband Jerry of West Salem, Pam Lewis of Sumner, Julie Stephens and husband Duane of West Salem; sons: Mark Clodfelter and wife Amy of West Salem, Randy Clodfelter and wife Pam of Sterling; grandchildren: Matthew McVaigh, Lance (Tiffany) McVaigh, Chelsea (Chad) Adams, Cody Lewis, Cameron Lewis, Jessica (Chris) Scaggs, Zachary Clodfelter, Blake Pearson, Brooke Pearson, Meghan Clodfelter, Mitchell Clodfelter, Allison Stephens, and Laney Stephens; great-grandchildren: Braelyn Troyer, Emersyn McVaigh, Anzlee Adams, and Lee Adams; a brother, Ron (Sharon) Scherer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Raymond "Bud" Scherer, and son-in-law Rick Lewis.

Anita worked for several years as a receptionist for Weber Medical Clinic and West Salem Medical Clinic. She spent the majority of her life raising her five children and working as a farm wife. Anita was an active member of West Salem Moravian Church, assisting others and preparing meals for funeral dinners. She was an excellent cook whose noodles and cookies were well-known and loved by all. She and Eldon were avid square dancers. Anita loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers. She also enjoyed mowing her lawn. The farm that she and Eldon shared was her passion. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.

Funeral services at the West Salem Moravian Church with Reverend Reid Lauderman officiating. Anita will be laid to rest in Moravian Cemetery.
