Ernest E. Marshall

Ernest Edward Marshall of Schertz, Texas, lovingly known as "Eddie" and "Papa," went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18, 2022 at the age of 75.

He is preceded in death by his father Clyde E. Marshall and sister, Vickie D. Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Regina E. Marshall, his children Dory Inskip (husband James), April Smith (husband David) and Summer Marshall, his mother Virginia Marshall-Wimer, sister Lowana K. Ervin (husband John), sister and brother- in- law Janice and Fred Anderson, grandchildren; Megan Dickey, Brittney Sanchez, Austin Fairbanks (wife Hosanna), Alec Fairbanks, and Kaelynn Shew. Great Grandchildren; Avianna, Kayden, and Cade Guerra, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides.

Eddie graduated from Richland County High School in 1964. He went on to attend Olney Community College where he received an Associate of Arts degree. Soon after graduating, he enlisted in the USAF. He was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming for a brief stint in time, before being transferred to Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas.

He met the love of his life, Regina E. Huff in 1970. They were joined in holy matrimony a year later on January 9, 1971. Shortly after the union he went on to attend UTSA were he pursued his bachelor of nursing degree. Eddie, had a deep compassion for others, and was an advocate for those suffering mental illness. He worked as a dedicated RN with the San Antonio State Hospital, holding positions of authority, committing to the staff and patient clientele. He went on to serve with the State for 30 years, retiring in 1999. His love for helping others did not cease after retiring. He went on to work part-time as a Clinical Nursing Instructor for the St. Phillips College of Nursing, where he was cherished and loved by many of the students he taught.

Eddie was a dedicated servant for the Lord; he would share the love of the Christ in any setting, situation and atmosphere. He served the Lord in many capacities, including being an usher at Cornerstone church and of late, he was dedicated to purchasing bibles and distributing to people he'd meet. He had a laugh that would echo the walls of any room and a smile that would melt any heart. He was a wonderful father and "Papa "who instilled into his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren the love of Christ. His life was an example of honor, integrity and example of Jesus.

In serving Christ, Eddie and his adoring wife Regina extended their warmth and generosity by becoming involved as sponsors to an exchange student for a year. It gave them such pleasure to assist and help another that they felt called by the Lord to become foster parents. They fostered numerous abused and neglected babies and children, providing them a safe haven with lots of love.

In retirement Eddie and Regina enjoyed spending every moment together, they shared a love that is rarely seen among couples. Eddie enjoyed raising livestock and farming. He was involved in and a member of the Beefmaster Association, as well as the American Dairy Goat Association. Eddie enjoyed spending quality time with Regina; they would both find interest they could enjoy together. One of the many interest was the enjoyment of birds, they later enjoyed being members of the Alamo Expedition Bird Club. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends

A Celebration of life memorial was held at Cornerstone Church in the Vada Hagee Chapel in San Antonio, Texas.

Well this is a bummer.  Ed is my second cousin and I had no idea he had passed.  I ask God to find a nice place in Heaven.  He's a good guy.

Eddie helped me get through geometry with Mr. Reed. We all would have slept through the class if it weren't for being in the back row with Ed and his jokes Nice guy and sounds like he had a great life. He's home now🙏

Eddie was always a nice friendly guy in high school. It sounds like he led a great life and had a great family .  God bless everyone .  Rest In Peace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

My brother, Eddie, was taken way too soon! But he's in Heaven now as he was a wonderful Christian guy!🥰. See you when I get there, Eddie!❤️
