Janet Garrett (Tuttle)

Janet (Jan) (Garrett) Tuttle, age 85 passed away November 09, 2018, in Houston, Texas, as a result of declining health of several years. She was born in Olney, Illinois April 25, 1933, daughter of Clifton W. and Florence G. (Prather) Garrett. She married Jay Tuttle in Olney, Illinois on September 1st, 1957.

Jan graduated from Missouri Baptist Nursing School in St. Louis Missouri as a registered nurse. She worked in Indiana and Missouri before marriage. She and Jay lived in several states in the Midwest before moving to Houston in 1968. She later worked at Methodist Hospital and Shriner's Hospital.

Jan immensely enjoyed all types of music and musical singing groups. She sang with Viva Voce, Houston Tuesday Musical Club, Houston Symphony Chorus, and the Chancel Choir of the Memorial Drive Methodist Church where she was a member of 50 years. She also sang with several ensemble groups of the church. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the DAR. Jan was a caring, fun person with an easy laugh and beautiful blue eyes.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Jay Tuttle; son Garry Tuttle and wife Susan of Austin, Texas; daughter Lynn Greene and husband Jeremy of Houston, Texas; one grandson; three granddaughters; sister Barbara Moore and husband Harold of Naples, Florida. Also left to cherish fond memories are six great grandchildren.

Private services and interment held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and cemetery.
