Ron Janes

Ron Janes, 80, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.  Ron was born on August 27, 1936 in Champaign, IL, the son of Harold Warren and Gladys Thelma (Bursott) Janes. He married Millie on June 30, 1957 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Ron was a teacher and principal early in his career at Yale, IL, and owned and operated the Farmers Grain Company in Flora with his parents. He then worked at GAB as an insurance adjuster prior to he and Millie opening their own adjusting business. Janes Adjusting started in 1985 and Ron retired in 2012. Together they also started Grace Church in their home on April 6, 1975. They have been very involved over the years with One Mission Society (formerly OMS) and MFM (Men For Missions) and have traveled out of the country on missions trips. Haiti held a special place in Ron's heart. Ron also kept score for the Olney Tiger's basketball team for close to 40 years and he was also on the chain gang for the football team. Ron was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and followed the Illini teams.

Ron is survived by his wife, Millie of 60 years; son, Randy (Marcie) Janes of Dundas; daughter, Amy (Steve) Kinkade of Noble; daughter, Sue Janes of Olney; grandchildren, Brandy (Brock) Zerkle, Derek (Tessa) Dicks, Grant Janes, Brooke (Christopher) Fritschle, Hayden and Hunter Kinkade; great grandchildren, Judah and Ezra Dicks, Petra Zerkle; cousins, Tom Bursott and Bonnie (Bob) Hardin.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Services at Grace Evangelical Church, Olney with burial at Crest Haven Cemetery, rural Claremont.

Dennis K. Foreman (1964)

It's sad to see people you've known so long ago, go.  Ron certainly left his mark on the world and I'm sure God will have a special place for him in Heaven.

Dorthy Irene Miller (Eagleton) (1955)

July 1955 Ron and I unloaded boxcars of fertilizer in Flora at the elevator.  He was a great guy to work with.  I always thought he was older than myself.  After reading his obit, I wish I had kept in contact with Ron!  I also was a teacher for 34 years.  I'm happy to know he will be singing in the heavenly choir when I'm called to our final home!
