Jerry Novak

Jerry Dean Novak, age 74, of Flora, formerly of Olney, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Services in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney with graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery east of Noble. Pastor Rodney Payne officiating.

Jerry was born on July 28, 1942 in Olney, the son of Edward and Beulah (Nichols) Novak.

He was a Private in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked for the Illini Builders in Olney. He was a member of the American Legion for many years. He enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting. He also loved playing the mandolin, banjo, and guitar. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by two daughters Kim Mason (Kevin Dhom) of Newton and Kelly Novak of Flora; son Eric Novak of Flora; sisters, Jessie Brown (Bill) of Cisne and Shelby Jackson (Robert) of Claremont; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Beulah Novak; brothers Merle Novak and Robert Novak; and sister Mary Cunningham.
