Roy Mason

Roy Dean Mason, 76, of Kingman, Indiana, formerly of Manteno, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

Roy was born April 28, 1942, in Elgin, IL, the son of Lowell and Geneva (Badgley) Mason. He was the beloved husband of Linda Kay (Nease) Mason, married on December 1, 1963 in Olney, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Goad of Manteno, IL; two sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Mason of Kingman, IN and Aaron (Lisa) Mason of Cashton, WI; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; his mother, Geneva Mason; five sisters, Ann (Bob) Reiser, Carol Bunting, Lora (Larry) Bemont, Anita (Bill) Caufield and Ellen (Roger) Bastian; son, Jesse (Tina) Mason and sisters-in-law, Patti (Tony) Martin and Janet (Randy) Rowe.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Mason, in-laws, Ralph and Phyllis Nease, and two grandsons, Mitch Goad and Brandon Mason.

Roy attended East Richland High School, Olney, IL, graduating in 1960. He then studied architecture for 2 years at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He went on to work in construction for several years, eventually starting his own business, A-1 Mantels. He took great pride in every piece he built.

Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to their dream home on Lake Holiday-Hideaway in Kingman, IN. He enjoyed fishing, boating, long conversations, and gatherings with family/friends. His most cherished possession though, was his family.

Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018, at Brown’s Funeral Home, Manteno, IL from 3-6 pm.
