THE SELECTION CRITERIA

The Tiger Pride Alumni Association - TAC Scholarship recipients are selected by the Richland County High School Senior Awards Committee.  Scholarships are awarded to deserving graduating seniors at Richland County High School based on the following criteria.

1) Students in good academic standing and at least a 'B' average.

2) Students that have demonstrated the Core Expectations of RCHS Students of Respect, Responsibility and Work Ethic.

3) Financial need of the student is considered in the selection, but it is not the sole criterion.

Note about the above process:  None of those who will be a recipient knows of being selected until hearing her or his name announced during the ceremony on Senior Awards night.  As to the TAC - TPAA directors, we have no part of the selection; afterwards key directors are informed of the number and names in order to prepare for the ceremony.

Donors List

As stated previous years, we like to publish your name on our donors list, but will use “Anonymous” if you request it.  I do hope you will permit us to post your name.  We have good evidence that suggest naming names helps increase donations.  Thanks!

Donations Made Directly to TPAA Facebook Page

We are also pleased to acknowledge that over the last few years a growing number of alumni and others have chosen to donate to both the scholarship drive and the Tiger Prige Cares program after viewing the facebook page of sister organization, the Tiger Pride Alumni Association.  Thank you all!

OUR drive and COVID-19

First, President Lisa Hemrich's statement.

As 2020 draws to a close (finally!), we at Tiger Pride Alumni Association are turning our attention to kicking off the 2021 Scholarship Drive.

This has been a rough year for many, and that could have a drastic impact on graduates’ opportunities to attend college. Students and their families are facing both reduced income and the cancellation of extra-curricular activities that often lead to scholarships.

We want to help pick up the slack, but we need your help. If you’ve been blessed with continuous income and opportunities, please consider making a tax-deductible donation before the end of the year and help us share those blessings with students who are facing uncertain futures.

Thank you for your continued support!

Lisa Hemrich, TPAA President

Next, my view.  Lisa and many of our other volunteers are teachers and see the need daily.  I'm a retired teacher and no longer in the class rooms.  But I do see young adults in families on each side of Barb and my home.  We see kids whose education have been interrupted exactly for the reasons Lisa states in her message.  Less income; less opportunities.  The three I am thinking of have, I say, "Lives on hold!"  They are continuing to study but independently not as students as their families cannot affort to pay the tuition.

Just as here in my neighborhood, the need for help in Richland County is as great as ever!

Thank you for your support!
